"Born too late to explore the world." That's how the saying goes. We at The Lake Champlain Zoological Inquiry, though, would beg to differ with this timeless phrase.

Did you know that, of all the environments of the Earth, aquatic environments have proven to be some of the most difficult? This is why less than 10% of the world's oceans have been explored. The depths of even freshwater lakes can be extremely concealing and harsh environments, with new discoveries often being found just under the surface of the water, because not many have had the ability to look there before.

New archaeological finds, biological phenomena, and other discoveries are made constantly under the water; even at the shores of Lake Champlain, where eyewitnesses have reported seeing a large aquatic animal for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

Once a part of the prehistoric ocean, called the Champlain Sea, Lake Champlain still bears a great resemblance to the ocean. The array of vegetation, prehistoric relics like the sturgeon, and the systems of canals and rivers that feed into the lake are but a bit of evidence to showcase this.

Hundreds of eyewitnesses have come forward saying something else rather strange is going on in the lake; photographs, video, even audio evidence suggests the presence of a large aquatic or semi-aquatic species that science is not yet aware of.

The Lake Champlain Zoological Inquiry's goal is to assess the available evidence for this alleged species, aid in documenting reports, and attempt to scientifically scrutinize the case for Champ.
